What your body
may mean when it
asks for sweetness.

Bread, juice, chocolate or something that promises quick energy. A personal look at cravings, nourishment and pleasure without guilt.

What is your body trying to say?

A craving for chocolate is not automatically a lack of discipline. Wanting bread does not mean you have failed. Your body is usually trying to communicate with the tools it has. Sometimes it needs energy, sometimes rest, comfort, familiarity or a proper meal after a day of running on too little.

I know these moments. I have stood in the kitchen after a full day, looking at chocolate and hearing the old voice saying I should eat something more sensible. Today I try to ask a better question first: have I eaten enough, or do I simply want to enjoy this?

Quick energy

Bread, juice and sweets can be easy, available energy when your reserves are low.

Too little recovery

Poor sleep and a full day change how hunger and satisfaction feel.

A moment for yourself

Chocolate can mean pleasure, memory, comfort and a small ritual.

A meal that did not carry you

If you have eaten only coffee, a small salad or something on the run, your body may ask more clearly later.

The body rarely searches
without context.

Bread, juice and chocolate rarely appear without a context. Bread can be a wish for reliable energy. Juice can mean freshness, fluid or something light. Chocolate can be energy, comfort or simply a food you love. There is no need to invent a hidden meaning every time. Sometimes a wish is simply a wish.

The Essenzcode helps me look at the whole person: everyday life, nervous system, rhythms, digestion, energy, preferences and the atmosphere around food. It is not a list of forbidden foods. It is a way of hearing your own language more clearly.

You may need a warm meal first and still want chocolate afterwards. You may want a glass of juice with a proper breakfast. You may eat bread with cheese, egg or hummus and feel calm again. A supportive choice does not have to exclude pleasure.

A personal story

The chocolate in the kitchen cupboard

One evening I was tired from a day of organising and carrying things for other people. I had postponed eating and wanted chocolate immediately. I made a small warm meal first, without trying to make the chocolate disappear from my mind. Afterwards I ate the chocolate sitting down. It tasted better because I was no longer fighting myself.

The chocolate was not a catastrophe and it was not a cure. It was food that gave me pleasure. The meal before it gave me more ground. I want more of that relationship with food: honest, present and free from unnecessary punishment.

A sentence to keep

Your body is not against you.

When it asks for bread, juice or something sweet, you can listen without turning every answer into a new rule. Give yourself the foundation that is possible today. Take pleasure seriously as well. Sometimes that is a full meal, sometimes a piece of chocolate, and sometimes both.
